Training
To participate in the CACFP program there is mandatory training required by facilities who wish to participate in the program. Employees of each new facility must receive training prior to CACFP participation and annually. New-hire employees/Volunteers for each facility must also receive training prior to participation in the CACFP food service operation, as well as annual training. Facilities participating with Red River CCFP must notify our Office immediately when staff changes occur so that new staff can be trained BEFORE taking on CACFP duties. All current staff is required to complete the required training annually.
Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Food and Nutrition Division (FND) requires all facilities who participate in the CACFP food service operation to complete training annually. CACFP training through the sponsoring organization, or through an alternate approved source. Key food service operation personnel are required to receive training during each year of the program. CACFP Facility Pre-Approval Visit
All Day Homes must receive a “Pre-Approval Visit.” During this visit, detailed CACFP program information and benefits are discussed to determine a facility’s food service operation capabilities in accordance with CACFP requirements. Below are some of the topics discussed:

Civil Rights Training
Prior to application, key food service operations personnel who will perform CACFP functions at each facility must receive Civil Rights training.
Civil rights training is a self-paced training curriculum provided online by the TDA FND.

Upon completion of Civil Rights Training, a certificate is provided which must be sent to Sponsor. The Civil Rights training must be completed annually by all facility personnel with CACFP responsibilities.
