Red River Child Care Food Program provides aid to family or group day care homes for the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. Red River CCFP was incorporated in 1990 and serves counties throughout North Texas. 

Through Red River CCFP, more than 2400 children receive nutritious meals and snacks each day as part of the day care they receive. USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program plays a vital role in improving the quality of day care and making it more affordable for many low-income families.

What are the responsibilities of
a Sponsoring Organization:

DAY CARE HOMES

Sponsors will recruit, monitor and reimburse the providers and conduct in-service training to their Sites. This includes assessing compliance of meal pattern requirements, keeping records of procedures, verifying provider’s household income and determining eligibility of their own children (if in the program) and classifying homes for reimbursement as Tier I or Tier II. Monitors will visit your facility at least three times during the year to observe a meal service and complete a records check.

Who is Eligible?

Day Care Homes

A family or group day care home must sign an agreement with a sponsoring organization to participate in CACFP. Day care homes must be licensed or approved to provide day care services.  Reimbursement for meals served in day care homes is based upon eligibility for tier I rates (which targets higher levels of reimbursement to low-income areas, providers, or children) or lower tier II rates. Proper amounts of each food component/category must be served to each child.  Records must include daily attendance, meal participation records and menus.  Reimbursement is reserved only for children enrolled in the program. Meals may not be claimed if the home exceeds the licensed capacity for the home. You will also claim meal reimbursement and meal expenses on your taxes.  Please consult a tax advisor to assist you in this process.
